Greg Sankey has taken his fair share of blame from those outside the SEC footprint recently, with many saying he and the SEC are hurting college athletics by forming a superconference.

That led to Tuesday’s big news that the Big Ten, ACC and Pac-12 were forming an alliance (albeit an alliance without any formal documentation).

Tuesday evening, Sankey issued a statement to Action Network’s Brett McMurphy. You can see the statement below:

“We have respect for each of our conference colleagues and look forward to our future collaborations,” Sankey’s statement reads. “I believe we remain unified by our shared beliefs around the positive impact college sports has on the lives of student-athletes and throughout our communities. In the SEC, we are proud of our collective academic commitment and athletics accomplishments and look forward to continuing to offer our student-athletes great educational and championship opportunities in the years ahead.”

We’ll see what the relationship between the alliance conferences and the SEC is moving forward, but Sankey doesn’t seem too worried.
