Auburn coach Gus Malzahn has noticed improvements by Mississippi State in recent weeks overall, and especially on offense.
One of the reasons for that is the play of QB Will Rogers.
“He’s improved … he’s efficient, patient, been protecting the football,” Malzahn said on the SEC coaches media teleconference. “That’s what has really stood out to me.”
But Auburn this week has to find a way to slow the Air Raid offense, and Malzahn explained how to do it.
“Just disrupting what they want to do, making the QB uncomfortable… I think that’s a big part,” he said.
A former Auburn assistant is off to a great start in his tenure at Missouri in Eli Drinkwitz. Malzahn also offered his thoughts on that development and Drinkwitz’ future.
“I’m very proud of Eli, he is a super person and really good football coach,” Malzahn said. “SEC is different to be a coach in, much less this year. He’s got his team playing well, he will have an opportunity to win championships in this league.”
