Halftime Quick Take: QB Rivers starts for Vandy, ineffective

Vanderbilt coach Derek Mason did a great job keeping his quarterback selection secret this week, but it hasn’t help an anemic offense under first-year play-caller Karl Dorrell.

LSU transfer Stephen Rivers, making his first start under center for the Commodores on Saturday against Ole Miss, hasn’t found a rhythm through two quarters against an attacking defense.

Vanderbilt trails 20-0 at intermission and has just 76 total yards of offense.

Tailback Ralph Webb’s found some early running room, but third down failures for the second consecutive week have kept the offense stuck in the mud. Webb’s managed 56 yards rushing on 10 carries.
