HBO’s ‘Real Sports’ to profile Auburn radio voices Rod Bramblett, Andy Burcham

One of the most tragic stories across the SEC this year was the sudden passing of long-time Auburn radio voice Rod Bramblett. It’s a story that will be chronicled this week on an episode of HBO’s “Real Sports.”
Bramblett and his wife were killed in a car wreck in May. They’re survived by two children, daughter Shelby, an Auburn student, and son Joshua.
Bramblett was a three-time Alabama Sportscaster of the Year, and he was perhaps most known for his call on the “Kick Six” play in the Iron Bowl in 2013. Auburn won the game and advanced to the SEC Championship game after Chris Davis returned a missed field goal 109 yards for a touchdown on the final play.
“There goes Davis,” Bramblett said.
To promote Bramblett’s memory, the Tigers have worn helmet stickers this season, and before the game against Tulane held a moment of silence in honor of Bramblett.
Andy Burcham, a longtime radio veteran for Auburn, was named the new “Voice of the Auburn Tigers.”
To promote the upcoming segment, HBO said Burcham has stepped into Bramblett’s shoes in more ways than one. The show is set to air at 10 p.m. on HBO.
