Another Tagovailoa could be leaving the Alabama program.

On Friday, AL.com’s Matt Zenitz reported that Taulia Tagovailoa, brother of Tua Tagovailoa, has entered the NCAA transfer portal. Entering the transfer portal does not bound a player to leave the school, but it does allow him to be contacted and recruited by other programs.

Taulia signed with UA as part of the Crimson Tide’s 2019 recruiting class. Coming out of Thompson, he was rated the No. 5 pro-style prospect, No. 8 recruit in the state of Alabama and No. 180 prospect overall nationally on the 247Sports Composite. As a recruit, he collected 14 scholarship offers, including Florida, LSU, Ole Miss, South Carolina and Tennessee. With the known closeness of the Tagovailoa family, one wonders if the Miami Hurricanes will be considered as Taulia’s college destination with Tua now a member of the Miami Dolphins.

Taulia appeared in 5 games in the 2019 season, meaning he cannot claim it as a redshirt season. In limited action, he was 9-of-12 passing for 100 yards and a touchdown.

Alabama also signed 4-star pro-style prospect Paul Tyson in the 2019 class. In the 2020 recruiting class, the Crimson Tide landed 5-star dual-threat QB Bryce Young. Mac Jones, a 3-star 2017 signee, is expected to be the team’s starting QB in the fall.
