Former Alabama RB Derrick Henry is one of the toughest running backs to tackle in the NFL, and he proved why several times on Sunday in the Tennessee Titans’ win over the Kansas City Chiefs.
Henry bounced through the line of scrimmage and sidestepped defenders en route to a 68-yard touchdown to give the Titans a 20-18 lead with 5:58 left in the third quarter. The Titans then scored with 23 seconds remaining to pull out the improbable victory.
Henry rumbled for 188 yards on 23 carries with two touchdowns. He also scored midway through the fourth quarter. That was by far his best game of the season and only second time this season he’s topped 100 yards. Sunday was the first time he’s scored two touchdowns this season.
Henry’s had a solid season for the Titans with 644 yards on a 3.9 yards per carry average and six touchdowns.
Last season, Henry set single-season career highs in carries (215), rushing yards (1,059), rushing long (99t), and touchdowns (12). Last season was Henry’s first career 1,000-yard season. He finished sixth in the NFL in rushing yards.
