No. 2 Oklahoma’s season has already seen its first adjustment as Hurricane Ida has caused the Sooners’ game with Tulane to be moved from New Orleans to Norman, Oklahoma, The Athletic reported, although Tulane’s athletics director said the decision is not finalized.
Over the weekend, Tulane announced that its football team would relocate during the storm to Birmingham, Alabama.
Both teams have reason for optimism entering the season.
The Sooners are ranked No. 2 in the preseason AP Top 25 and are considered a national championship contender led by Heisman Trophy candidate quarterback Spencer Rattler and a defense that’s expected to be improved and experienced. Tulane coach Willie Fritz is in his sixth season with the Green Wave, and the program is coming off of its third straight bowl game for the first time in school history.
