Indiana QB Josh Hoover remains in the game after receiving bloodied nose from facemask

Indiana quarterback Josh Hoover has big shoes to fill as he takes over from Fernando Mendoza as the Hoosiers’ QB1.
The former TCU signal-caller, who threw for over 7,400 yards and 56 touchdowns over the past two seasons with the Horned Frogs, hasn’t finished out the first half with his new team. But it’s clear that the Texas native is built different.
Indiana is kicking off its title defense in Week 1 against North Texas. Watch as a North Texas player not only grabs Hoover’s facemask but also causes his helmet to turn 180 degrees. This looks extremely dangerous:
Hoover, fortunately, avoided serious injury and stayed in the game. That’s not to say he came away from the encounter completely unscathed.

Hoover’s debut with Indiana has gone well, other than that. He started 6-for-6 for 98 yards and has thrown for two touchdowns, one to Charlie Becker and one to Michigan State transfer Nick Marsh.
Indiana opened up a 14-0 first-quarter lead before a Mean Green field goal, but Hoover’s touchdown pass to Becker with 6:46 left in the second quarter — bloodied and all — put the Hoosiers up 21-3.
