There’ll be a major SEC showdown on Saturday when No. 6 Alabama heads to No. 14 Tennessee. Alabama is looking to bounce back from a 20-17 loss to Georgia while Tennessee most recently edged host Arkansas 24-17.
CBS Sports’ Inside College Football crew made their picks for the matchup. Nate Jones, Aaron Taylor and Rick Neuheisel are all going with the Crimson Tide to take down the Volunteers.
Neuheisel believes Alabama will pay close attention to Tennessee running back DeSean Bishop.
“All will be dedicated to stopping Bishop. I don’t think it will be close,” Neuheisel said. “I think Alabama handles business.”
Jones agreed that the Crimson Tide will need to be sound with their run defense.
“I’m going to go with Bama as well but they’ve got to fix their rush defense,” Jones said. “…They’ve got to maintain those gap assignments and tackle well.”
Taylor added that the intangibles will play a factor but Alabama will muster enough for a victory.
“This is a tricky game for Alabama. They’re going to come in beat up and tired…And you’ve got to go on the road…With all that said, I think they can get it done,” Taylor said. “They’ve got to run the football consistently themselves…Pack your run game and defense and Alabama will be okay.”
Alabama at Tennessee is set for a 3:30 p.m. ET kickoff (ABC).
