With the FBS season having already kicked off and Week 1 less than seven days away, the college football world is somehow still grappling with the debate over which players will be eligible to take the field this fall.
The NCAA’s ‘5-in-5’ rule has created a myriad of headaches across both the college and professional landscapes, and one of the names at the center of the conversation may be on his way to making even more people upset.
Former LSU defensive end/linebacker Jack Pyburn went undrafted earlier this year but was eventually signed by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Pyburn played extensively in the preseason, standing out with 4 solo tackles and a pair of sacks in his appearances. But all the while, rumors had swirled that the EDGE would return to play for the Bayou Bengals should he be waived.
Well, as FOX Sports’ Greg Auman reported Sunday, the Buccaneers have now officially waived Pyburn, and should the former Florida transfer clear waivers, he will likely join Lane Kiffin‘s squad in Baton Rouge.
Across a four-year career that saw him play sparingly with the Gators before starring for the Tigers, Pyburn accounted for 132 total tackles, 10.5 tackles for loss, 3 sacks and an interception.
