The Jon Sumrall era is off to a hot start.
The Florida Gators are 3-0 on the season after securing a massive road win over Alex Golesh‘s Auburn Tigers on Saturday night, 44-39. Gators running back Jadan Baugh led the way, rushing for 3 touchdowns and 162 yards on 26 carries.
The junior running back is up to 458 rushing yards and 8 rushing touchdowns on the season, and it’s not even October. Heck, October is still 2 weeks away.
Baugh was always a shifty running back, but it feels like he’s found an extra gear compared to his sophomore season under Billy Napier. This run — his longest of the night — is a good representation of that idea. Talk about turning on the jets, folks:
The box score doesn’t flash for Aaron Philo, but the Georgia Tech transfer had a solid night as well. Philo completed 15 of his 22 passes for 204 yards, 1 touchdown and 1 interception while adding 9 carries for 22 yards. Dallas Wilson and Vernell Brown III combined for most of Philo’s completions — the pair finished with a combined 9 receptions for 160 yards and 1 touchdown.
Here’s Wilson’s score, which put Florida up 3 possessions midway through the 3rd quarter:
Next up, Florida is set to face off against Ole Miss, which is looking to complete a win over Lane Kiffin and LSU over on ABC.
