Jeremiah Smith strengthens position atop Heisman Trophy odds board after Week 5
Jeremiah Smith entered Week 5 as the favorite to win the Heisman Trophy. With another slate of games in the books, he’s seemingly even closer to taking home that honor in December.
Smith was exceptional again in a Week 5 victory over Iowa. He caught 11 passes for 206 yards and 2 touchdown passes. His second score made history โ Smith is now the all-time career record-holder for touchdowns in Ohio State history (36).
Smith now leads the nation with 823 receiving yards through 5 games. Only 4 other players have even eclipsed 600 receiving yards so far in 2026. Smith is also tied for the lead nationally in receiving touchdowns with 9.
The latest Heisman Trophy odds on Kalshi reflect Smith’s dominance. He’s now priced at 48% to take home the award. None of the other contenders are above 15%, though Miami’s Darian Mensah and Notre Dame’s CJ Carr come the closest:
If Smith does win the Heisman Trophy, he would be just the second primary wide receiver this century to take home the award. Alabama‘s DeVonta Smith won it in 2020, but prior to him, it hadn’t been done since Desmond Howard in 1991.
Ohio State will host Maryland in Week 6.
