After Tennessee lost at Georgia, one of the ways the Vols bounced back was with a Sunday scrimmage. Coach Jeremy Pruitt liked it so much he said that more are on the way.
“It’s something that we’ll continue to do,” Pruitt said Wednesday on the SEC coaches media teleconference. “Just think there was too much good that come out of it. And we have the numbers to do it so we need to continue to do that.”
As the Vols prepare for Kentucky this week, Pruitt said Jerome Carvin and Jahmir Johnson are “game time decisions” but both practiced this week; they did not practice last week.
Pruitt said Kentucky offensive coordinator Eddie Gran does a really nice job to create multiple looks, including a triple option.
“They have athletic QBs that can expand plays … just a physical football team,” Pruitt said.
On defense, Pruitt said it was probably one of the first times he got to see the Mike Leach Air Raid offense, and UK did a lot of drop eight guys into coverage, and with their eyes on the quarterback were able to break on the ball.
In terms of Tennessee’s defense, Pruitt said Henry To’o To’o works extremely hard and makes all the checks.
“He’s up here all the time, you know, he does school and football and he does both of them pretty well,” Pruitt said.
