Texas A&M officially lost some depth along its offensive line as coach Jimbo Fisher said OL Grayson Reed is out for the season. Reed suffered a serious leg injury against Alabama in the 52-24 loss, and was carted off the field.
“Grayson had a lower-body (injury) and it will be a year-ending deal for him. He won’t be able to come back for the rest of the year, unfortunately,” Fisher said.
As the cart carried him off the field, Reed appeared to have tears in his eyes. The injury happened at the 10:43 mark in the first quarter on a field goal attempt by the Aggies. He appeared to collide with Alabama DB Daniel Wright. An air cast was placed on Reed’s leg by medical personnel.
Reed is a 6-foot-5, 300-pound junior from Cypress, Texas, near Houston.
A 4-star recruit, Reed was the 247Sports Composite’s No. 237 overall prospect, No. 22 offensive tackle and No. 38 player in Texas for the 2017 recruiting class.
This is especially unfortunate news because Reed has battled injuries throughout his career, and was just cleared to play leading up to the Alabama game.
No. 21 Texas A&M (1-1) will host No. 4 Florida (2-0) at Kyle Field on Saturday. The game will kick off at noon ET/11 a.m. CT on ESPN.
