Texas A&M is really playing well in the red zone of late, as the Aggies have converted nine straight opportunities in their last two games.
The Aggies have won four straight games and converted 12-of-13 overall in the redzone in the last three games. Overall for the season, the Aggies are 23-for-26, with 19 touchdowns and four field goals inside the 20.
Coach Jimbo Fisher explained on the SEC coaches media teleconference how the Aggies have found success.
“I think we had you know we had some opportunities in that game we had some young guys and those experiences we remember we’re bringing in all new receivers. All new receiver we had a top receiver opted out those guys broke in, we might have gotten going we got our backs you know got an eye situated,” Fisher said. “I think what’s made us really good in the red zone we’re balanced, we can run the football we can throw it. Kellen, our quarterback, has done a tremendous job of getting in and out of the right place, going where he has to go with the ball making big plays on third down, and the physicality in the red zone I think has been a big part of.”
Does Fisher have any concerns about games being postponed being a problem for the College Football Playoff committee?
“Well, I think if we play right now, we’re gonna play as much as a couple conferences already. We’ve already played that,” Fisher said.
