Joe Judge clarifies controversial comments from Trinidad Chambliss hearing
Joe Judge got the result he wanted from Thursday’s exhausting hearing involving quarterback Trinidad Chambliss, who was ultimately granted an injunction to allow him to play next season at Ole Miss.
Judge is the head coach of offense and quarterbacks coach for the Rebels, so it appears that he’ll have Chambliss at his disposal this fall as Ole Miss attempts to return to the College Football Playoff. But during that hearing on Thursday, Judge made some controversial comments that received backlash and caused Judge to clarify what he really meant from the hearing.
He took to his own social media on Saturday to do some damage control, writing in part:
Some of my comments from Thursday have been taken out of context, so I’d like to provide some clarity. In a discussion about Trinidad’s sleep apnea, I was trying to point out the importance that the NFL places on sleep for recovery and performance in addition to the education of balancing family dynamic during the football season.
Here is Judge’s full statement on the issue:
Judge has a lot of coaching experience at the NFL level, including as a head coach with the New York Giants and as an assistant with the New England Patriots. So, he was speaking from experience on Thursday, even if his comments didn’t quite come out the way he wanted, which forced him to go into that damage control a few days later.
With Chambliss seemingly back in the fold for the 2026 season, Judge can look forward to working with the star quarterback. But right now, he was in the business of trying to walk back some comments that caused a major stir during that Chambliss hearing on Thursday.
