When it comes to the biggest names in college football so far this season, there really hasn’t been anybody who has stood out more than star Ole Miss quarterback Trinidad Chambliss.
The current Heisman frontrunner has somehow found a way to look even better than he did last year, as he did this past Saturday when he led the Rebels to a massive upset victory over the LSU Tigers and his former head coach Lane Kiffin.
Chambliss completed 33 of his 48 passes against the Tigers, racking up 363 yards and 2 touchdowns en route to one of the biggest wins of the year for any team thus far. This latest performance, along with his play against Louisville in Week 1, led Fox’s Joel Klatt to name the Ole Miss gunslinger his “September Heisman” on Monday’s episode of The Joel Klatt Show.
“This gut is unreal,” Klatt said. “I said a couple of weeks ago that if I had one 2-minute possession, what quarterback am I taking from this sport? I’m taking Trinidad Chambliss. Doubling down on that. I think I would take him, period. If I had one draft pick right now, the top draft pick in all of college football, I’m the head coach, I’m the GM, who am I going to with a bag? Trinidad Chambliss. I think he’s that good.”

Klatt also compared Chambliss’ clutch ability in the fourth quarter to none other than the greatest quarterback ever to play the game, Tom Brady, and it’s hard to argue with that comparison given what he’s done.
Simply put, Chambliss is the type of program-defining signal-caller coaches dream about, and he’s put himself and Ole Miss in a prime position to make another run at a national championship this season.
