Texas has responded from a season-opening loss at Ohio State with a pair of back-to-back victories vs. San Jose State and UTEP. However, that hasn’t quieted the noise surrounding quarterback Arch Manning.

The sophomore has passed for 579 yards with 6 touchdowns and 3 interceptions, along with the No. 88 QBR in the nation (49.6). During Wednesday’s edition of First Things First, FOX Sports’ Joel Klatt asserts that the media mayhem surrounding Manning could be hampering him on the field.

“Well, we just spent 7 minutes on a nationally televised show talking about him…” Klatt said. “The pressure is there which leads to him pressing which leads to him being ahead of the offense. It all to me is a domino effect.”

Arch Manning is the nephew of former NFL star quarterbacks Peyton and Eli Manning and arrived on campus as the No. 1 prospect in the nation from the Class of 2023.

Next up for Manning and Texas is a home matchup vs. 0-3 Sam Houston in Week 4. ESPN’s analytics give Texas a whopping 98.9 percent chance of victory. The lone time the teams met was a 56-3 Texas victory in 2006 when Sam Houston was still in Division I-AA.
