Joey Aguilar reportedly makes NFL Combine decision amid CFB eligibility uncertainty

Joey Aguilar is fighting for another season of college football eligibility. The quarterback, though, will attend the NFL Combine in case he does not get the desired result in court.
According to Chris Low of On3, Aguilar will limit his time at the Combine to avoid jeopardizing his eligibility should the court rule in his favor regarding his 2026 eligibility. Low reports that Aguilar will only be at the Combine for a 48-hour period, instead of the full 5-day window.
The NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis begins Monday and runs through March 2. Quarterback drills are set for Saturday, Feb. 28.
Aguilar is suing the NCAA for 2026 eligibility. The Tennessee quarterback is arguing that his junior college seasons should not count against his 4 seasons of NCAA eligibility.
The well-traveled quarterback joined the Vols in the spring of 2025. He began his college football career back in 2019, redshirting at City College of San Francisco in 2019. The program’s 2020 season was then canceled due to COVID-19. Aguila played his first JUCO football at Diablo Valley Community College in 2021. He transferred to App State, where he spent 2 seasons, after his second JUCO season (2022).
Aguilar appeared in Knox County Chancery Court this past Friday. Chancellor Chris Heagerty will be ruling as to whether Aguilar is granted a temporary injunction against the NCAA for 2026 eligibility.
