When somebody makes a list of the best and most influential football coaches of the 21st century, Jon Gruden undoubtedly deserves a spot next to all of the other legends that have come through the sport over the past 25 years.
The former longtime NFL head coach and 2003 Super Bowl Champion with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers has spent the last few years away from the game, building up a following on social media with his entertaining and informative content.
Some of Gruden’s most-watched videos feature him opening care packages full of team-branded gear that top college football programs around the country send him, and the former head coach recently tore into one he received from the Missouri Tigers.
Gruden certainly looks good sporting that black and gold, but he could soon be ditching the new Mizzou gear he just got if he ends up joining the other side of the Battle Line Rivalry.
Calls for Gruden to take the now vacant job in Fayetteville started growing this past Sunday, as fans of the Hogs took to social media to voice their support for the former Super Bowl winner. Gruden has expressed interest in returning to coaching in recent months and a strong desire to land in the SEC, and the Razorbacks could certainly do much worse than a man with his resume as their next coach.
All that being said, there’s a long way to go before any official offer gets made, even if the fans desperately want to see Gruden roaming the sidelines as their new head coach.
Arkansas faithful can still hope, though, and who knows? Maybe Gruden does end up sporting crimson and cream next fall as the new head coach of the Razorbacks. Or maybe he sports his Mizzou gear while working for Barstool Sports.
