Jon Sumrall and Florida were rolling heading into the game on Saturday against Mizzou. However, things got ugly in Columbia on Saturday, as the Tigers dominated for the majority of the day en route to a 45-17 win against the Gators.

After the game, Sumrall couldn’t hide his embarrassment with the performance.

“They’re a good football team; they didn’t need our help,” Sumrall said. “They played really good; hats off to them, but we didn’t play to our standard. Embarrassing performance in every phase. It starts with coaching, and it starts with me. We have to play a lot better. I’m sick to my freaking stomach with what we just did. Livid.”

The Gators had been imposing their will on opponents in the ground game, but that wasn’t the case at all. Running back Jadan Baugh was in the top two in the country in both yards and touchdowns entering Saturday, but he finished with 12 carries for 13 yards. The Gators’ defense couldn’t stop Missouri at all, as the Tigers finished with 560 yards of offense.

The SEC is always a gauntlet, and that is once again the case in 2026. Teams have been unable to sustain success after a big win, and the Gators were the latest team to have that happen to them.

Up next for the Gators is a home game against a South Carolina team that is dealing with many issues of its own. Kickoff in that game is scheduled for 12:45 p.m. ET, and the game will be on the SEC Network.
