Jon Sumrall makes SEC history with Florida’s scoring in first 4 games

The Florida Gators have been outstanding to start the 2026 season. Their offense in particular, led by Jaden Baugh and Aaron Philo, has been incredible.
Jon Sumrall‘s team has scored at least 44 points in all of its contests. And with the Gators’ 52-28 win vs. the Ole Miss Rebels on Saturday, Sumrall made history. He’s the first SEC head coach to post 200 points in his first four games at the helm.

Florida opened the season against the likes of Florida Atlantic and Campbell, who provided little resistance as Sumrall’s crew scored 66 and 52 points, respectively, on them. However, that left the Gators needing 82 points vs. two SEC teams to crack the 200-point threshold. Offensive coordinator Buster Faulkner and Co. took that challenge personally, notching a combined 96 points on the road at the Auburn Tigers and at home against a top-five Ole Miss team.
The competition the rest of the way won’t get any easier. Florida travels to battle the Missouri Tigers in Week 5, then hosts the South Carolina Gamecocks on Oct. 10 before matchups with the Texas Longhorns and Georgia Bulldogs, who are currently the top two teams in the country. If this Gator offense somehow maintains its dominance, though, whoever’s on the opposing sideline will be irrelevant.
