Jon Sumrall ‘pissed off’ by bad snaps in Florida’s Week 1 game

The Florida Gators cruised to victory over Florida Atlantic in the first game of the Jon Sumrall era on Saturday, crushing their in-state foes by a final score of 66-21 in front of a packed Ben Hill Griffin Stadium.
Florida did what they were supposed to against an inferior opponent by dominating the Owls in all 3 phases of the game, getting plenty of reps for the second and third stringers in the process.
While there was plenty to be encouraged about for the Gators coaching staff, some areas still need improvement. One of those was the snapping game, which Sumrall told Florida reporter Caden Alvis he was less than pleased with on Monday afternoon.
“He (center Harrison Moore) had five bad snaps,” Sumrall said. “Four of the five were the exact same block… I was pissed off… We’ll get it cleaned up.”

A Texas native, Moore was a 3-star recruit in the 2024 recruiting cycle and spent his first 2 years at the collegiate level with the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets. He was an immediate contributor for the Jackets as a freshman in 2024, and followed that up by starting 9 games as a sophomore in 2025.
The 6’5, 300-pounder made the move to Florida last spring, following former Georgia Tech offensive coordinator Buster Faulkner down to Gainesville after Sumrall lured him away to take the same position on his staff.
Moore won the starting job at center out of camp, but he’ll need to clean up these early snapping issues if he wants to hold down that role for the duration of the season.
