Jon Sumrall provides injury update on Vernell Brown ahead of Week 5

Jon Sumrall is perfect so far in his coaching career at Florida, with that 4-0 start to accompany the Gators’ new No. 8 ranking in the latest AP Poll.
Florida is also 2-0 in the SEC as it heads to Columbia in Week 5 for another ranked matchup against No. 25 Mizzou. The kickoff on Saturday will be at 3:30 p.m. ET on ABC, and Sumrall hopes to have 1 of his banged-up players available when the Gators face the Tigers on the road.
That player would be sophomore wide receiver Vernell Brown III, the Gainesville native who has played in every game this season, but who’s also been dealing with a right knee injury.
Brown has 17 catches for 271 yards and 2 touchdowns through 4 games this season despite not being fully healthy, and Sumrall gave an update on Brown’s status during his Monday morning session with reporters.
“Nothing serious. Relative to what you could get, we got great news after the imaging and everything and the MRI revealed nothing that is long-term,” Jon Sumrall said.
“Right now, it’s really going to be as much of a pain-tolerance and a confidence with him. … Really, honestly, great news on what we got back. So, a little bit of a strain but, like, the lowest-grade strain you can get. So, positive news there. What does that mean timeline-wise, I don’t know.”
