Jon Sumrall shares blunt reaction to Florida’s new uniforms

The Florida Gators are about to enter the first season of the Jon Sumrall era down in Gainesville after they brought on the former Tulane head coach last winter following the firing of Billy Napier.

Sumrall, who led the Green Wave to an AAC title and College Football Playoff berth in 2025, has been tabbed as the man that everybody in Gator country hopes will be the coach that finally gets the football program back on track.

These are lofty expectations for any coach to live up to, but Sumrall seems to have the no-nonsense attitude needed to get the job done. This was illustrated perfectly on Monday morning, when the Florida head coach was asked about the various uniform combos that the Gators are set to wear this season.

“I could give two shits,” Sumrall said (per OnlyGators.com). “I just want to win games.”

This all-business attitude is nothing new for those who have followed Sumrall throughout his career, and his commitment to winning has been evident at his previous stops as a head coach.

Sumrall led Troy to a 23-4 record and 2 consecutive Sun Belt titles during his time with the Trojans from 2022-23, and followed that up with a 2-year stretch at Tulane where he went 20-8 and led the AAC power to their first CFP appearance in program history.

Winning is clearly built into Sumrall’s DNA, and he’ll be looking to bring that winning nature back to Gainesville, regardless of what uniform his players are wearing.
