Jon Sumrall shares his message to Florida players after beating Ole Miss

Jon Sumrall picked up a signature win with Florida in Week 4 as the Gators topped Ole Miss 52-28 in Gainesville. Despite the victory and the fact the Gators are 4-0, he noted there’s still work to do.
“I told our guys I could not be more proud of their effort and their buy-in to what we’ve asked them to do,” Sumrall said on The Triple Option podcast. “But then I also remind them, like, we still have not played our best football. While winning the game is exciting and being 1-0 last week is great, man, I am on to the next, and how do we continue to improve.”
Florida’s win saw it skyrocket up the rankings. It was No. 21 going into the game. It’s now No. 8, the highest it’s been in the AP Poll since a No. 6 ranking in Week 15 of the 2020 season.
Jon Sumrall, though, isn’t focused on that, and is looking to steer his team’s focus away from it as well, he said.
“I also told them in the locker room, and I reminded them again (Monday morning), you can either humble yourself or somebody else is going to humble you,” Sumrall said. “No one puts anything up in the building on where you’re ranked between Week 4 and Week 5, alright? So, the rankings don’t mean anything now.”
The Gators travel to Columbia to face Mizzou in Week 5. The Tigers are coming off a 31-24 loss to Mississippi State.
