Jon Sumrall shares update on Florida WR Eric Singleton Jr. ahead of Auburn game

The Florida Gators moved to 2-0 in the Jon Sumrall era on Saturday after handling the Campbell Camels in a 52-3 blowout win in front of a packed Ben Hill Griffin Stadium.
Now the Gators are turning their attention towards what will be their first true test of the 2026 campaign this Saturday when they will hit the road to take on the Auburn Tigers under the lights in Jordan-Hare.
Sumrall took the podium on Monday morning to discuss the upcoming matchup, and he also gave an important injury update on star wideout Eric Singleton Jr. after he was sidelined last Saturday with an ankle injury.
Sumrall told reporters that both Singleton and defensive lineman Emmanuel Oyebadejo were “limited in practice” on Monday and are “questionable” for Saturday’s game against Auburn. He added that “there’s a shot” they could both play on Saturday, but it’s still up in the air.
Singleton, who spent the 2025 campaign with Auburn, transferred to Gainesville in the offseason after putting up 534 yards and 3 touchdowns for the Tigers last year. Before that, he spent 2 seasons at Georgia Tech, posting 1,468 yards and 9 scores across 2023 and 2024.
He was expected to be heavily involved in the Florida passing attack in 2026, but the lingering ankle injury he suffered during Week 1 has kept him sidelined for much of the first 2 games of the year.
It will be interesting to see how he progresses over the course of this week and what his status ultimately ends up being when the Gators take the field against Singleton’s former team on Saturday night.
