Jordan Rodgers explains why Ole Miss matchup isn’t a ‘must-win’ for LSU

This weekend’s tilt between the LSU Tigers and Ole Miss Rebels is the biggest regular season game of the college football season. The theatrics surrounding Lane Kiffin‘s exit from Oxford only ramped up the intensity for his eventual return.
Despite the game’s incredible significance, though, is it a must-win for the Tigers? On Tuesday’s episode of Get Up, Paul Finebaum said yes. During Wednesday’s edition, Jordan Rogers said no, even though Kiffin may feel otherwise.
“I think it’s a must-win for Lane’s ego… I think it means a lot to him,” Rogers said. “[But] this LSU football team is going to be judged by whether they make the College Football Playoff or not. That’s why [Lane Kiffin] was brought here… so, in the grand scheme of things, this game matters. But it’s not a be-all, end-all.”
Rodgers’ made his feelings clear, but added Kiffin has the advantage “on both sides of the football.” However, he thinks Ole Miss has the “best quarterback in the country.”
“He got to go against Pete Golding every single day in practice. He knows what causes that defense issues,” Rodgers said. “[Lane] also knows what causes Trinidad [Chambliss] issues… but at the end of the day, you can call any play you want; you gotta execute it. It’s gonna come down to Trinidad Chambliss… can he show what he showed Week 1?”
The Tigers and Rebels kick off at 7:30 p.m. E.T. (ABC) on Saturday night.
