Jordan Rodgers: Florida should ‘absolutely’ be considered a national title contender

Jon Sumrall’s Florida Gators are everyone’s favorite team heading into October. The Swamp has been revitalized under its new head coach. Following the team’s dominant victory over the Ole Miss Rebels, the expectations for Sumrall in Year No. 1 have busted through the roof.
During Wednesday’s episode of Get Up, Jordan Rogers declared the Gators were a national title contender. He pointed to their powerful offense as reason to believe they could win the College Football Playoff.
“Florida is the real deal,” Rodgers said. “This offense, the skill positions — not just Jadan Baugh, but Vernell Brown III and Dallas Wilson — they have a collection of possibly the most talented skill guys around Aaron Philo in the country… this is a team that will punch you in the mouth. They’re physical at the line of scrimmage, and they got that swagger back.”
Florida (4-0, 2-0 SEC) has positioned itself well for a CFP berth. However, there’s still a lot of football left in the 2026 campaign. The Gators face three ranked teams — No. 25 Missouri, No. 1 Texas and No. 24 Kentucky — on the road and have a date with No. 2 Georgia left on their schedule. Sumrall and Co. justifiably have confidence that they can win all of those games, but navigating them all to retain its CFP positioning could be difficult.
The first of Florida’s ranked battles comes this weekend in Columbia against Missouri. Kickoff between the Gators and Tigers is 3:30 p.m. E.T. (ABC) on Saturday afternoon.
