The messaging from Kalen DeBoer to his Alabama team is that the gauntlet hasn’t ended. The Crimson Tide are still right in the thick of it.

Alabama, up to No. 4 in the AP poll, has won 7 straight. Four of those wins came against ranked teams in consecutive games. Last week, the Tide went on the road and survived an upset-minded South Carolina team with a fourth-quarter rally. Alabama is resting up this week before returning to action on Nov. 8 against LSU.

DeBoer has signaled to his team throughout the week that they have to keep the focus on the here and now.

“In team meetings, Coach DeBoer is still preaching that we’re not done,” tight end Josh Cuevas said on Thursday after practice. “We’re in the middle of it. He puts a big power point slide with, ‘November has the games you’re going to remember.’

“Just kind of treating it like that and not taking a single day off. We’re treating every team like they’re the national championship.”

On a podcast appearance earlier in the week, DeBoer admitted that he’ll take screenshots of sports talk shows that doubt Alabama and show them to his team.

Though the Tide have responded wonderfully to a season-opening loss at Florida State and put last season’s failings firmly behind them, DeBoer has said he doesn’t want his team to feel like they are “back.”
