The Pittsburgh Steelers selected former Tennessee QB Joshua Dobbs with the 153rd pick in the fourth round (yes, the exact same pick that the Dallas Cowboys used to select Dak Prescott last year) in the 2017 NFL Draft this weekend.

The ex-Volunteer goes to a team that already has an entrenched starting quarterback in Ben Roethlisberger, so Dobbs won’t face immediate pressure to start.

Though Dobbs may have been drafted by Pittsburgh to be groomed to eventually replace Big Ben, the two-time Super Bowl-winning quarterback sent out a classy tweet after Dobbs was drafted:

Dobbs, naturally, responded to Roethlisberger’s kind tweet by thanking him and letting him know he wants to learn everything he can from a player he thinks will one day be enshrined in the Hall of Fame:

If Dobbs and Big Ben can have a friendly relationship, instead of an adversarial one, the Steelers could set themselves up to have a smooth transition when Roethlisberger decides to hang up his cleats.

But, if Big Ben gets injured (a la Tony Romo last year) and Dobbs comes in and plays well, Roethlisberger may grow a little bit icier toward the fourth-round selection.
