Josh Heupel calls on stores to re-stock mustard, golf balls ahead of Lane Kiffin’s return to Knoxville

Things got a little chaotic the last time Lane Kiffin visited Knoxville.
Coaching the Ole Miss Rebels, Kiffin’s squad walked into Neyland Stadium in 2021 and played an impressive game against the Volunteers — and the roaring Neyland Stadium crowd. A few late (and crucial) calls went Ole Miss’ way, which led to frustrated fans pelting the field with… anything they could find. That includes mustard bottles, beer cans and even a golf ball.
Kiffin, thankfully, was OK, and Ole Miss went on to win, 31-26.
Now, in 2026, Kiffin is set to be back in Neyland Stadium as the Tigers travel to face the Volunteers on November 21, the penultimate week of the regular season. On Monday during SEC Media Days, Tennessee head coach Josh Heupel was asked about that matchup and whether or not Tennessee fans have cooled off since that night.
In response, Heupel told the reporter “I certainly hope that our fans haven’t cooled off” and insisted that he hopes fans are ready for Kiffin’s arrival, including the sports stores and grocery stores with restocked mustard and golf balls, respectively.
While they’re at it, maybe they should plan some extra shipments of popcorn, too.
