Josh Heupel hits crossbar throw from 25 yards for 6-figure charity donation on College GameDay

Thanks to Pat McAfee, College GameDay is turning into Cash GiveAway. The former Indianapolis Colts punter is routinely making massive charitable donations each weekend, courtesy of his “Kicking is Easy” challenge and other prompts. This weekend, Tennessee head coach Josh Heupel added to the bill.
During GameDay‘s Knoxville show, McAfee offered Heupel an opportunity to earn a $100,000 charitable donation by hitting the crossbar from the 15-yard line. Heupel immediately accepted, took a second to measure his throw, and drilled the crossbar in walk-off fashion.
Heupel, a former quarterback, began his collegiate career at Weber State (1996-97). He eventually transferred to Snow College in 1998, then leveled up in 1999, when new Oklahoma Sooners head coach Bob Stoops recruited him to Norman. Heupel led the Big 12 in completion percentage, passing yards and passing touchdowns as a junior. His senior year, he topped the nation in completion percentage and finished second in Heisman Trophy voting while leading the Sooners to the national championship.
Oklahoma’s national championship win came vs. Heisman Trophy winner Chris Heinke. On Saturday, Heupel will try to recreate the underdog triumph and certify Tennessee as the “UT” by beating Texas. The Longhorns and Volunteers kick off at noon ET (ABC).
