Josh Heupel and Tennessee players are turning the page to a new week following the Alabama win and at his Monday press conference, Heupel said the players received a “dose of reality” from him and their position coaches at a brief practice on Monday morning.
“The look in their eye said they wanted to improve,” Heupel said. “The short time that was spent on the grass was really good, I’m looking forward to this week unfolding the right way. The reason we’ve been able to win each week is preparation has been good, not perfect, but been really good. That urgency, that focus, as we get our game plan on the practice field the early part of the week is going to be critical.”
Heupel said he did a lot of recruiting after the game and didn’t get home until midnight after the Alabama game. He and his family had a bunch of friends in town and a bunch more celebrating and catching up to do. He got to bed early in the morning sometime, he said.
As Tennessee turns its attention to UT-Martin, the Vols get back to work.
“From the outside looking in, everything here looks pretty good for the most part,” Heupel said. “From the inside looking out, we’ve got a lot of work to do and a lot of things to clean up.”
