We already know the SEC is the strongest conference in college football (at least most of the time). The conference sent 13 of its 16 schools to bowl games in 2024. Josh Pate doesn’t expect the same amount of bowl participants this season, but it’s pretty darn close.

Pate released his SEC record predictions on last night’s episode of the Josh Pate College Football Show. He sees a dozen SEC members making bowl appearances in 2025. More impressively, he believes 10 SEC teams will reach 8 wins before conference championships commence. Last year, the conference had only 8 schools accomplish that feat.

Pate’s projections back the SEC Championship pick he made last week.

These records would likely all but guarantee Texas and Alabama seats at the 2025 College Football Playoff table. The same could be said for Florida and Georgia, who face some of the toughest schedules in the country. Texas A&M would likely be right on the cut line, but a win in any of their marquee road games — Notre Dame, LSU or Texas — would do wonders for their cause.

With a boatload of 8-4 schools right behind the aforementioned quintet, one thing is certain. Once again, every Saturday in the SEC will be incredibly entertaining. Make sure you’ve got a comfortable couch.
