Joshua Dobbs named National Player of the Week by Athlon Sports

Tennessee quarterback Joshua Dobbs was named Athlon Sports‘ Week 10 Player of the Week for his performance in Saturday’s 45-42 overtime win over South Carolina. Dobbs led the Vols to a fourth quarter rally after facing a 14-point deficit with 4:52 remaining.

The sophomore recorded 301 yards, two touchdowns and one interception on 23-of-40 passing. He added 166 net yards and three touchdowns on 24 rushing attempts.

Dobbs made his first start of the season on Saturday after entering Tennessee’s Week 9 matchup against No. 3 Alabama on the team’s third possession, throwing for 192 yards and two touchdowns on 19-of-32 passing and rushing for 75 on 19 attempts.

As a freshman, Dobbs made five appearances at quarterback, starting the final four games of the 2013 season. According to Tennessee’s official website, Dobbs added 27 pounds since his freshman season.
