Justin Shorter is recovering from a scary incident near the end of the Gasparilla Bowl, and the family of the Florida wide receiver has released a statement that he will head home soon. He is on his way to a full recovery.

“We would like to thank everyone for the outpouring of prayers, love and endless support — he is going to be fine!,” the statement read, which was released by the football program on social media.

Late in the fourth quarter, with less than 3 minutes remaining, Shorter took a huge hit from UCF DB Quadric Bullard while going up for a pass from quarterback Emory Jones.

Shorter was taken off the field after the hit near the Gators’ 45-yard line. He fell to the field unconscious and laid motionless for several moments while the medical cart made its way onto the field.

Shorter earlier posted a positive update on Instagram.
