Tennessee quarterback Justin Worley will undergo season-ending surgery, according to VolQuest.com. The senior quarterback started in seven games for the Vols and threw for 1,579 yards, 12 touchdowns and eight interceptions on 157-of-252 passing, before reinjuring his throwing shoulder in Week 8 against Ole Miss.
Worley’s official diagnosis is a torn labrum, head coach Butch Jones confirmed Tuesday.

This is the second straight year Worley will need season-ending surgery, ending his collegiate career. VolQuest.com had reported that Worley didn’t throw a pass during the past two weeks of Tennessee’s practices– other than some left-handed tosses.
VolQuest also reported that Tennessee may submit medical hardship papers for the injured quarterback, who never had a redshirt season, nor took an official visit during his recruiting process. Jones said Worley will remain a part of the team, despite being inactive.

Sophomore Joshua Dobbs has started in Worley’s absence. Dobbs led Tennessee to a 45-42 overtime victory over South Carolina last week and was awarded SEC Offensive Player of the Week.
