Kalen DeBoerโ€™s transition from head coach at Washington to taking the reins at Alabama was an incredibly quick one.

When it came to replacing the legendary Nick Saban in mid-January, the leaders in Tuscaloosa didnโ€™t waste much time. Sabanโ€™s retirement was official on Jan. 10, and DeBoer was announced on Jan. 12.

Ahead of this weekendโ€™s big game at home against No. 2 Georgia, DeBoer detailed his hiring process in an interview with The Triple Option podcast, hosted by Urban Meyer, Mark Ingram and Rob Stone of Fox Sports:

The way DeBoer tells it, he was interviewed on Thursday and offered the job on Friday. Less than a week after his Washington Huskies fell in the national championship to Michigan, he was introducing himself to the Crimson Tideโ€™s players as their next head coach.

Here’s video of DeBoer detailing his hiring timeline:

Alabama is off to a 3-0 start under DeBoer in the post-Saban era with wins over Western Kentucky, South Florida and Wisconsin. The Tideโ€™s game on Saturday against the Bulldogs at 7:30 p.m. on ABC will be his SEC debut as Alabamaโ€™s head coach.
