Kalen DeBoer showed guts on the last play of the first half, as he kept the offense on the field instead of taking the field goal. EJ Krowell delivered, breaking it outside to score a 3-yard touchdown to give the Crimson Tide a 14-10 lead at the half.
After the play DeBoer was visibly happy about the play, showing more emotion than he normally does. While he was happy about the play, he was still frustrated that the lead wasn’t bigger.
“We just missed some opportunities with good field position,” Kalen DeBoer said. “We’re so close on the executions. It’s not like guys are missing assignments. Guys just got to execute a little bit better. When we don’t execute in that one spot, it’s resulted in negative plays or missed opportunities for big, explosive ones. I think we found a little bit of a groove here at the end of the half, so good momentum going into the half.”
Quarterback Keelon Russell has made some big throws in this game, but the Bulldogs did a good job of confusing him at times with different blitzes. Alabama has all of the momentum entering the second half, the Crimson Tide have a chance to throw another punch if they can get a stop on the first drive of the third quarter.
