Kalen DeBoer already has been through a lot as Alabama head coach and particularly early this season after that stunning Week 1 loss at Florida State.

So, pardon DeBoer if he was already looking toward the second half during his brief interview on the way to the locker room at halftime of Saturday’s Week 3 showdown against Wisconsin. The 19th-ranked Crimson Tide had a 21-0 lead after 2 quarters at Bryant-Denny Stadium, holding the Badgers to a measly 4 first downs and 59 total yards in a first-half domination.

Meanwhile, Alabama had rolled up 212 total yards in that first half, and quarterback Ty Simpson continued to thrive, particularly with his accuracy. After completing all 17 of his passes last week against Louisiana-Monroe, Simpson was 13 of 14 in the first half against Wisconsin, meaning he’d gone 30 of 31 over the past game and a half.

When Cory Reamer, the sideline reporter for Crimson Tide Sports Network, caught up with DeBoer on his way to the locker room, DeBoer words were measured and intense.

“What’s your message to the team at halftime?” Reamer asked Kalen DeBoer.

“Don’t let up … no mercy,” shot back the Alabama head coach.

We’ll see how Alabama responds in the second half, and if the Tide indeed show no mercy for their guests from the Big Ten.
