Much like any coach facing the media after such a high-profile loss, Alabama coach Kalen DeBoer found himself searching for answers Thursday night following the Crimson Tideโs 38-3 beatdown by the Indiana Hoosiers in the Rose Bowl.
DeBoer, who finished his second season at Alabama with the most lopsided loss in Alabama postseason history, described the complexity of emotions among the Crimson Tide players.
โIt is a lot of emotions right now shared in the locker room,โ DeBoer said to reporters after the College Football Playoff quarerfinal. โWe can be upset, because losing doesnโt sit well with us. We can be frustrated about it, and thatโs what our program is going to be โ be upset when these situations happen. Weโve use this as fuel going forward.
โIโm going to be proud. I am going to proud of these guys, proud of who they are and what theyโve accomplished. โฆ The other emotion is to be sad for the guys. It is tough to look them in the eye when I think about what they have given to me and to the program โ everything theyโve got.โ
Alabama (11-4) managed only 23 rushing yards against top-seeded Indiana (14-0) could only muster a 28-yard Conor Talty field goal.
