Kalen DeBoer has been linked to the Michigan head coaching job in recent days. The thinking is that DeBoer, a Midwesterner from South Dakota, would be interested in a move to Ann Arbor after two seasons at Alabama.
On Sunday, that speculation increased. Reports from the AP stated that the firm handling Michigan’s search had reached out to DeBoer’s representatives.
Later in the afternoon, Kalen DeBoer issued a statement addressing the links, saying that he and his family “are very happy in Tuscaloosa” and that he had “no interest in speaking with anyone else about any other job.”
“We have an incredible opportunity in front of us, so my sole focus is on Alabama football and our preparations to play Oklahoma in the College Football Playoff,” DeBoer wrote.
The second-year Crimson Tide head coach went 9-4 in 2024 as his team missed the Playoff. They’re back in it in 2025 after a 10-3 mark and an SEC Championship Game appearance.
“I am fully committed to this program and look forward to continuing as the head football coach at the University of Alabama,” DeBoer concluded.
Alabama and Oklahoma meet on Friday in Norman in a first-round Playoff game. The winner takes on top-seeded Indiana.
