Kalen DeBoer and the Alabama Crimson Tide are preparing to host Georgia on Saturday in a game that has major implications for both the SEC as well as the College Football Playoff. One key player from the Crimson Tide, tight end Josh Ford broke his arm in the game against South Carolina. However, knowing how big of a game this is, DeBoer said that Ford is pushing to play against the Bulldogs.

“Josh broke his arm in the game Saturday,” DeBoer said. “Had surgery Sunday. He’s determined to get on the football field. Actually progressing along fairly well right now. We’ll kind of see how the week continues for him. I know where his mindset is at. We just got to make sure he meets the levels we need him to meet as far as being physically ready. He’s doing a great job. It’s going well. We’re optimistic.”

To come back from a broken arm a week after surgery would be an impressive feat. Ford is instrumental in the Crimson Tide’s running game as a blocker and tone-setter, as he has only one catch for three yards and a touchdown this year.

Last season, the Crimson Tide picked up a huge 24-21 win in Athens in a game that really got the season back on track after the Week 1 loss to Florida State.

Both of these teams have looked as good as any team in college football to start the year, and this feels like these two teams could be playing another game or two down the line.
