Mammoth Alabama offensive lineman Kadyn Proctor not only became an internet sensation but also struck fear into future Crimson Tide opponents last week with his rumbling-yet-nimble screen pass reception against Georgia. And Alabama coach Kalen DeBoer isn’t ruling out another touch for his future NFL talent again.
“Man, whatever it takes,” DeBoer said on the ESPN College GameDay set. “That’s what we’ll do. I’ll let Coach (Ryan) Grubb and the offensive staff do their thing. That was fun getting KP a touch last week, and it was at an important time, too.”
Proctor’s massive 6-foot-7, 366-pound presence with the football in hand was remarkable in that you usually don’t see a human being nearly that size making a sure-handed catch from Ty Simpson and gaining 11 yards. But there Proctor was, knocking over Bulldogs like bowling pins before finally being forced out of bounds near the goal line.
Proctor’s cameo as a ballcarrier against Georgia was the cherry on top of a dominant performance in his primary task as a left tackle in Alabama’s offense. The junior did not allow the Bulldogs a single pressure on Simpson in 43 pass block snaps and graded out a team-high 89 percent by Alabama’s coaching staff.
Proctor was named SEC Offensive Lineman of the Week by the conference for that performance, but there is no word on if he received any votes for wide receiver of the week as well.
