Kamario Taylor expected to attempt to play against Oklahoma, per report
Kamario Taylor could be back in the lineup for Mississippi State on Saturday against Oklahoma.
At the very least, he’s going to try to be available for the Bulldogs after missing last week’s game, according to a Friday afternoon report by ESPN insider Pete Thamel.
Taylor did not even dress for last week’s blowout loss at LSU, with a foot/toe injury keeping him out for the Week 7 battle in Baton Rouge. Without Taylor, it wasn’t much of a battle, as Mississippi State’s offense didn’t go anywhere with Parker Puckett filling in behind center for Taylor.
The Bulldogs were blasted, 31-0, falling to 4-2 overall and 2-2 in the SEC after a 4-0 start had them as one of the best early stories in college football. Taylor was a big part of that early season success, and according to Thamel he’s going to at least try to return to the field on Saturday as Oklahoma comes to Starkville for the 3:30 p.m. ET kickoff on SEC Network.

According to Thamel’s report, Taylor has “received significantly more snaps in practice this week,” which could lead to the sophomore signal-caller’s return.
“A final decision will be made based on how he feels in the next day/warmups,” reported Thamel on Taylor, who has been listed as questionable this week leading up to the Oklahoma game.
Friday night’s SEC injury report revealed the same questionable status for Taylor.
Taylor has thrown for 1,450 yards this season in 5 games, with 17 touchdown passes and 4 interceptions. His 83.4 QBR ranks 13th in the country, and Taylor has also rushed for 159 yards and 1 touchdown so far in 2026, all numbers that he just might be adding to if his reported attempt to play on Saturday is successful.
Mississippi State could have its star quarterback back in the fold on Saturday against Oklahoma, which would obviously boost the Bulldogs’ chances in the Week 8 clash. Here is what the Kalshi market is currently saying about Mississippi State’s chances to bounce back, with or without Taylor:
