Kamario Taylor shines in Mississippi State’s blowout win over Minnesota

Mississippi State made sure that the SEC picked up at least one win over the Big Ten in Week 2. The Bulldogs went to Minneapolis and thumped Minnesota, handing the Gophers a blowout loss by the score of 38-13.
Kamario Taylor is turning heads around the college football world and getting all kinds of media love. The Mississippi State quarterback lived up to the hype with another stellar showing.
Taylor was 16-of-22 passing (73% complete) for 3 touchdowns with no interceptions. He also had 13 rushes for 86 yards, making him MSU’s No. 2 rusher on the day. Taylor was responsible for 310 yards of Mississippi State’s 479 yards of total offense. Minnesota, meanwhile, had just 292 yards of offense.

Fluff Bothwell cracked triple digits for the first time since October 2025. He rushed 18 times for 113 yards and 2 touchdowns, leading the ground attack for Jeff Lebby‘s squad.

It was a mixed bag for Zach Arnett’s defense. Minnesota quarterback Drake Lyndsey threw 48 times, completing 31 passes for 279 yards. The Gophers only tried running the ball 15 times, gaining a net of 13 yards on the ground with 12 yards taken off for 2 sacks of the Minnesota QB.
Minnesota’s only touchdown of the day came via a fumble recovery when Taylor was sacked in the 3rd quarter. MSU never trailed, jumping out to a 28-6 lead in the first half and cruising to a 38-13 victory.
Up next, the 2-0 Bulldogs enter SEC play. Mississippi State travels to South Carolina in Week 3 for its first conference contest of the season.
