Kamario Taylor’s status for Saturday afternoon’s SEC showdown at No. 22 LSU is still very much in question, but On3 insider Pete Nakos shed some light on the Mississippi State star quarterback’s aim to play against the Tigers in the noon ET matchup on ESPN.

According to Nakos’ report on Friday afternoon, less than 24 hours before kickoff from Baton Rouge, the 16th-ranked Bulldogs still might or might not have Taylor for the huge road game. Nakos reported that Taylor “has been day-to-day and is working to play this week.”

The sophomore signal-caller, who took college football by storm in September in leading Mississippi State into the AP rankings with a 4-0 record, has already thrown for 1,450 yards in just 5 games, with 17 touchdown passes and 4 interceptions. He’s also rushed for 159 yards and 1 TD.

But there have been bumps along the way for Taylor, including that stinging home loss to Alabama 2 weeks ago in the Bulldogs’ last game. Mississippi State enjoyed a bye week after the Bama loss, but Taylor’s problems stretched further back before that Alabama game, according to Nakos’ report.

According to Nakos, Taylor has “been dealing with a turf toe injury since the end of the Missouri game,” which was a home victory over the Tigers on Sept. 26, a week before the Bama game and a win that closed a sensational month of September with a perfect 4-0 record.

But Taylor is apparently still feeling pain from that game 3 weeks ago, and he was listed as questionable on the SEC injury report on Thursday night.

According to Nakos’ report, “sources have shared some skepticism with On3 that he will be able to play.”

With Taylor’s status still in limbo for Saturday’s showdown at Death Valley, here is what the Kalshi market is currently saying about Mississippi State’s chances to go into Baton Rouge and emerge with a gigantic road victory, with or without its star quarterback:
