Kane Wommack claims Kamario Taylor ‘may be the best’ QB he’s faced since joining Alabama

Mississippi State began the season unranked but is now No. 16 in the AP poll after a 4-0 start. The Bulldogs most recently showed their bite with a 31-24 victory vs. then-No. 19 Missouri.
A major reason for Mississippi State‘s undefeated record is sophomore sensation Kamario Taylor. The dynamic quarterback has lit up opposing defenses with his poise and precision. Taylor’s next opponent is definitely not taking him lightly.
Ahead of Saturday’s undefeated showdown in Tuscaloosa, Alabama defensive coordinator Kane Wommack offered up some high praise for the 6-foot-4, 230-pound Taylor.
“A fantastic QB,” Wommack said. “He may be the best we’ve faced in the last three years since I’ve been here.”
That’s particularly telling because Alabama is constantly facing high-level quarterbacks not just in the SEC but also with its out-of-conference schedule and in the CFP. Taylor has passed for 1,192 yards with 14 touchdowns and just 2 interceptions this season while also rushing for 5.0 yards per carry.
This weekend Taylor is tasked with snapping a major drought for the Bulldogs. Mississippi State is on a 16-game losing streak against Alabama dating back to 2008. The Bulldogs’ last victory in the series was 17-12 on Nov. 10, 2007 in Starkville.
If Taylor can help Mississippi State pull off this upset, the Heisman hype will significantly grow.
