Kansas assistant reportedly leaves Jayhawks in strange career move

In the college football world, assistant coaches often change locations, landing bigger and better jobs as they work their way up the ladder.
However, the Kansas Jayhawks just lost an assistant to a whole new industry entirely. According to JayhawkSlant.com, the Jayhawks are losing safeties coach Todd Bradford to the oil industry.
Bradford said the money offered was just too good to pass up, though he tried to resist at first:
“A guy that I was involved with and had business dealings when I was in the oil world before I was helping with my mom reached out to me,” Bradford said. “He told me he had some companies that were doing really well and he needed someone to come in and help me run them. He asked if I was interested and I told him I was happy coaching.
“Then he called two more times after that and offered me the job after signing day. I turned it down twice. But each time the offer was getting a little bit better and by the third time financially it was oil world money.”
It’s unclear what exactly “oil world money” means, but considering Bradford was making $245,000 last year (per USA TODAY’s database), it’s likely a hefty raise.
Perhaps coaching at a school that has gone 3-33 the past three seasons finally took its toll on Bradford, too.
